Mid-Metro Academy offers academic, drama, art, language, and career track classes from a foundation of Christian values to homeschooled students in grades 7 – 12, preparing them for success in undergraduate programs and careers. When I'm not at Chikaming, I also spend time at the Middle High School, helping with the River Valley Drama Club. We have a talented bunch here at RV! WRITING:
One of my greatest expectations is the INTEGRITY of written assignments. Internet research is often required and text support is ALWAYS required, but I check the content of each student's writing thoroughly to determine if sources are copied word-for-word.I also verify that sources are cited properly. Students are expected to analyze and synthesize when they research, so that they can write about topics without copying. Citing a source is required, but NO source may be copied word for word unless it is a direct quote in quotation marks and clearly explained in the body of the student's paper. Please visit:

We have been reading and analyzing this science fiction drama, which has timeless and important themes regarding the serious consequences that result when people turn on an innocent person in an effort to find a scapegoat. Students are making connections from a wide variety of historical and contemporary events, including biblical, racial, ethnic and political connections. Please respond to three questions, and comment on three posts by your classmates. Your comments will go directly to me for approval, and will then appear in the blog. On the home page for that blog, I have included links that enable you to reflect on what you would have done if you were there during these events in history: the crucifixtion of Christ, the holocaust in Nazi Germany, and the Japanese internment.

We will be learning vocabulary from our current text. Our focus is always on correct usage, with daily review in class. 
Grammar work this week involves nouns: plural and possessive nouns, subjects and subject complements, objects and object complements.

Miss Mcnaughton's Drama Class HomeschoolWe will be writing our essays in GoogleDocs! GoogleDocs makes it easier (and fun) to collaborate while writing. I'll be posting comments and showing students how to view my revisions. We will also use GoogleDocs to work on writing activities in small groups.
'Puttin' on the Ritz', Saturday, August 15th at 7:30 PMI'm headed to Brandon, Manitoba - my home town - where I'll be singing with my friend Laura McAlpine and a string quartet made up of Joan Dillon and Sandra Smith, violins; Greg Hay, viola, and Laura Jones, cello in 'Puttin' on the Ritz'!
The concert features some of Irving Berlin's best known songs, such as 'Top Hat', 'Let's Face the Music and Dance', and of course, 'Puttin' on the Ritz'!
It will also feature some wonderful rarities, such as 'Pack Up Your Sins and Go to the Devil', all beautifully arranged for Baritone, Mezzo, and String Quartet by Laura Jones!

The concert will be in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall, Saturday, August 15th, at 7:30 PM. Sorry, one night only!

'Winter Nights', Dec. 6th and 7th with the Pax Christi Chorale.I'll be appearing with my colleagues Michèle Bogdanowicz and Sean Clark in the Pax Christi Chorale's concert 'Winter Nights', conducted by artistic director Stephanie Martin. The concert features the Bach Christmas Oratorio, Part II, the Bach cantata 62 'Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland', and Stephanie Martin's 'Winter Nights'.
The concerts will be at Grace Church on the Hill, 300 Lonsdale Road, Toronto. Saturday, December 6th at 7:30 pm, Sunday, December 7th at 3:00 pm

Understudying Sir Thomas Allen at theCanadian Opera Company My current engagement involves understudying Sir Thomas Allenas Don Alfonso in the Canadian Opera Company's production of COSI FANTUTTE, directed by Atom Egoyan and conducted by Johannes Debus. Theproduction runs from January 18th, 2014 until February 21st. WatchingSir Thomas in rehearsal is like attending a daily master class in howto become a consummate singing actor.
